Ronald McDonald Family Retreat at Krantz Cottage to Open in Lake George

On Saturday, July 17, Ronald McDonald House Charities® of the Capital Region (RMHC-CR) will welcome the first guest family to stay at the Ronald McDonald Family Retreat at Krantz Cottage. Located at 161 Ottawa Street in the Village of Lake George, the Ronald McDonald Family Retreat provides a peaceful, supportive setting where families experiencing serious childhood illness can enjoy being together, making lasting memories.

The two-story cottage, which houses an apartment on each floor, is the former law office of the late Howard Krantz.  It sits just steps away from village attractions, and minutes away from the beach.

“Families who are experiencing serious childhood illnesses are under a significant amount of emotional, physical, and financial stress,” said Dr. David Jacobsen, CEO of RMHC-CR. “This year-round retreat is intended to provide a peaceful respite that allows families to spend time doing what matters most – being together.”

The family of Howard Krantz, Mayor Robert Blais, and the entire Lake George community have come together to make the project a reality and to offer generous support to guest families. Many individuals and businesses have donated gift certificates to restaurants and local attractions. Others have given the gift of their time, most recently including a group of Amish artisans who know firsthand the comfort and compassion RMHC-CR has offered their family members.

On Wednesday, July 14, Ronald McDonald House Charities® of the Capital Region, along with the Lake George Regional Chamber of Commerce and Office of the Mayor, will hold a ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony at the Family Retreat.  Sponsored by Steven Bouchey and his team at Bouchey Financial Group, the event will take place at noon.
