Find Your Fit
In-House Volunteers help meet the needs of families at the Ronald McDonald House and assist with day to day operations.
- Guest Services Volunteers assist with reception by answering phones, reserving rooms, checking families in and out, and receiving donations. In addition, they assist with the daily needs of the House and provide support to our guest families.
- House Warmer Volunteers help to ensure that the Ronald McDonald House is comfortable, clean, organized and well-supplied. House Warmers also greet guests and give tours of the House to new guest families and visiting members of the community.
Family Room Volunteers
Family Room Volunteers support families of pediatric patients at the Bernard & Millie Duker Children’s Hospital at Albany Med. They welcome guests to the Ronald McDonald Family Room, offer support, and lend a listening ear to those who need it. In addition, they maintain a home-like atmosphere by providing snacks, coffee, entertainment and comfort items while ensuring guests adhere to all Family Room rules and policies.
The Ronald McDonald Family Room is staffed by volunteers each day from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
Care Mobile Volunteers
Care Mobile Volunteers assist the St. Peters Health Partners dental team by walking students to and from the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile and their classrooms. They play an important role in providing students with encouragement while they wait to receive dental services.
Care Mobile Volunteers are encouraged to commit two to three hours every other week. Scheduling is flexible. Schools served by the Care Mobile generally operate between the hours of 8:30 AM and 2:30 PM. A shadowing experience and a background check are required.
Meal Program Partners (Love is Served)
Meal Program Partners work in small groups to prepare and serve freshly-made meals for guest families at the Ronald McDonald House.
You don’t need to be a world-class chef to provide a tasty, home-cooked meal. Meal Program Partners make a tremendous difference in the lives of our guest families. And the feeling you’ll get from helping will feed your soul.
In light of the ongoing pandemic, we’ve updated our Meal Program guidelines to minimize exposure risks for our guests. Click here to learn how you can help ensure that love is served safely during this time.
Volunteer groups can support RMHC-CR in all kinds of ways. Help from your office or meeting space by holding a wish list drive to help stock the shelves for the Ronald McDonald House and Ronald McDonald Family Room. Host a fundraiser like selling paper hearts or declaring a dress down day to help raise much needed funds. Or sign up to visit the Ronald McDonald House with a group to provide a meal or help with household chores.
Small groups of volunteers can sign up to come to the Ronald McDonald House to provide a meal or baked goods, or help out with household chores.
