Book titles/intended audience: Eggs, Earth and Space by Vittorio De Cosmo, Trans. by Marino D’Orazio (grades 6-8)
Presentations available for: Middle School (grades 6-8)
Type of visit(s) available: In person
Visit details: I will be reading short portions from EGGS EARTH and SPACE which I have translated from the Italian. This book should be of special interest to middle school students since it centers on the adventures of young stowaways on the International Space Station who, through their questions about our planet (below their eyes), introduce popular earth science chapters about planet earth, its various systems and their functions, their current status, dangers, including global warming, climate change, pollution, sea level rise etc. My intent is also to engage the students in question and answer time about their views and concerns about the “health” of our planet; and of course what they as young people would like to see us adults do to combat the dangers of global warming and climate change. And finally, what they feel they can do! The visit should last between forty-five minutes and an hour.
