About the Author: Katherine Agard strives to foster a love of reading in children at an early age. She has always been inspired by children. Their eccentric personalities and wild imaginations amaze her. Katherine’s book series is titled, ‘The Adventures of Albert the Not -so- Ordinary Elephant’. Albert is unique because he was born without a trunk. However, he doesn’t let that stop him from anything! In her debut book, Albert’s Amazing Discovery, Albert the elephant shows children how life can bring us both good times and bad, and there are always ways to show kindness, even when others might not be kind to us. Children will also learn that sometimes the best things in life can come from sad places and that everything isn’t always as i seems. One thing that Albert says is,” Remember that sometimes, what makes someone different is also what makes them special.” Katherine believes that is also a message that all children need to hear. Each of her subsequent books are packed with other important messages in a way that children can relate to.

Type of visit(s) available: In person, Live virtual, Pre-recorded

Visit details: The visit would begin with a brief personal introduction. I would then read the story followed by a time of discussion and Q&A. Prior to the visit, I would email a coloring sheet of Albert and his family. The total time for an in person visit is approximately 45 minutes. If it was a pre-recorded video, I would ask that some questions be emailed to me ahead of time. This would allow me to answer those questions while I am recording the video and make it more personalized. An option to have the book autographed is included in the order form. This option is available for both in person visits and pre- recorded videos. Books would be signed prior to the Author visit.

Availability: 1 in person visit per month. Travel limited to within 15 miles of Rensselaer, NY., Pre-recorded – multiple visits per month.

Notice required for scheduling: For in person – 1 month’s notice, For pre-recorded – 1 week’s notice

Book order forms provided prior to visit? Yes. If it is an in person visit, I will bring the books with me. If it is a pre-recorded session, I would coordinate with the school for delivery.
