About the Author: Maryellen B. Wander Eyer grew up on Long Island enjoying the beaches and waves. Her mother’s family is from Vermont. Consequently, she grew up spending many hours in the Green Mountains at the base of Mount Mansfield; her grandfather’s favorite mountain. She currently lives in the Capital District area of New York snugly between the Catskill and Adirondack Mountains. She teaches in a local school district and is raising three sons with her husband, Steve. Her favorite activities are sharing the woods and the outdoors with others.

Visit details: Visits can be customized for length or focus. A half-hour presentation can include discussion about fire towers and their history, a video of a fire tower hike and a Google Slides presentation about writing, safety in the woods and encouraging students to follow their dreams.
