Visit details: The Animal Menagerie, written by Francine Dingeman and illustrated by Marta Maszkiewicz, is an A to Z picture book filled with captivating characters from the animal kingdom for children ages 4-7. Through this book, I look to entertain and educate by introducing dozens of creative new words into a child’s vocabulary. Together we will embark upon a whimsical journey through the pages of The Animal Menagerie! I can read the whole book or limit it to select pages of the book, depending on the age of the students. As I read, I project the page images onto a screen for students to see and follow along with me. I can tailor the ending (after the reading) to include a brief discussion of the animal characters or the process of writing a book. I can share three facts about each real life animal or offer coloring sheets or word searches. I like to tailor the ending to relate to each classroom’s curriculum. The entire presentation would be 30-45 minutes but I can fit it into as much time as is available to me.
