NIGHTS FUNDED
The 22nd Annual RMHC of the Capital Region Radiothon, presented by Capital Bank and broadcast across the full family of Albany Broadcasting stations, set a goal of funding 1,000 nights of comfort, hope and love for children and families staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Albany. Because of you, Capital Region, we far exceeded that goal, raising enough to fund 1,289 nights of care this year. Thank you!
Radiothon is such a wonderful time for RMHC. My favorite moments center on families sharing their story. Every night, The House That Love Built brings together up to 25 families whose children are receiving critical care nearby. Many of these families come from hours away so that their child may receive the excellent treatment provided at the Bernard & Millie Duker Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center. The expertise within the Children’s Hospital draws families from around the world who come to know the Ronald McDonald House as their home away from home.
In response to the needs of families, RMHC has developed new programs that extend love well beyond the walls of the Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald Family Room opened in 2001, the Hospitality Cart was added in 2020, and three programs launched in 2021 with Love Is Served providing lunch for families in the hospital, Helping Our Preemies Excel (HOPE) serving families in the NICU, and the Ronald McDonald Family Retreat at Krantz Cottage giving families much-needed time away together. This year, we plan to open a second Ronald McDonald Family Room inside the NICU at Albany Med.
